Fresh from the Kiln Newsletter 08

Fresh from the Kiln The Weekly Edit 08 - Oct 24th, 2023 It’s been a bit of a slow return to the studio. In our short history of preparing for markets the week after is a bit of a go slow: unpacking, returning product to shelves, thinking about how the market went and what we can do better next time. Being pretty new to the market scene we don’t have a lot of expectation, it is more about connecting with people and getting ideas and really just playing at this point. We created a little...

Fresh from the Kiln The Weekly Edit 07 - Oct 2nd, 2023 Plates Planters Plates and planters in this week’s edit. A small kiln unload with 4 plates and 3 large planters taking up most of the kiln space. New glaze combination on the planter below. A bit of old gold over a chocolate brown base glaze with a carved and textured finish on this large 18cm planter. The planter combines well with green and bronzed foliage as shown below with an aged Euphorbia. This litte stack of 4 plates came out of...

Fresh from the Kiln The Weekly Edit 06 - Sept 24th, 2023 Lots of beautiful pieces out of the kiln this week. Very happy with some of the variations of our Neo matte glaze, a beautiful two tone caramel tan and chocolate on a couple of mugs. Perfect for hot chocolate, cappuccinos and lattes. A large bowl using our matte charcoal glaze with a glossy ocean cover glaze would make a lovely special occasion gift. I’m loving everything rustic at the moment, it feels as if the world is running at a...

Fresh from the Kiln The Weekly Edit 05 - Sept 17th, 2023 Bowls Plates This week’s kiln favourite: Neo Bowl in Charcoal Ocean 21cm is a medium to large dinner bowl for individual pasta or curry or a communal small salad bowl. More details below image. Bowl - Charcoal Ocean This is our new cover glaze ‘Ocean' on our base Neo Charcoal. A cover glaze is one that you dip, spray, brush or pour over another glaze. A cover glaze often creates a decorative layer over a base layer by way of contrast,...

Fresh from the Kiln The Weekly Edit 04 - Sept 10th, 2023 Planters Mugs Plates Neo Ornamental Jar with honeycomb matte glaze and some white crackle embellishment. Lots of surface carving to deepen the effect of this glaze. Mug - Charcoal Ocean We tested a new cover glaze for our matte charcoal. The whole mug is dipped in matte charcoal then we layer with a top half dip of another glossy glaze to create some contrast and reaction. The glossy ocean cover glaze floats on the matte surface...

Fresh from the Kiln The Weekly Edit 03 - Sept 3rd, 2023 Planters Mugs Plates This week we added a small dove grey mug to our Neo range. These mugs are for those who like a smaller mug (8cm, 250ml volume). This mug has an inner and outer dove grey glaze application with our white crackled glaze dripping over the rim for a little glaze twist. Minimalist meets rustic. We have also added a couple of larger mugs in the matte charcoal with blue iron rim, some textured planters with dove grey and...

I am very grateful and thankful for your interest in our clay story. We produce small batch ceramic wares from a studio in Williamstown that’s been up and running for a year now. I thought I would focus on what comes out of the kiln as this is a pretty exciting part of the process for everyone hence...
