Fresh from the KilnThe Weekly Edit 01 - Aug 21, 2023
Welcome to our first ‘Fresh from the Kiln’ newsletter. My name is Allison and I am the ceramicist at Et Al Ceramics. I am very grateful and thankful for your interest in our clay story. We produce small batch ceramic wares from a studio in Williamstown that’s been up and running for a year now. I thought I would focus on what comes out of the kiln as this is a pretty exciting part of the process for everyone hence the name ‘Fresh from the Kiln'. It is the culmination of creation for the potter and from there it travels into the world and hopefully the hands and hearts of people who treasure the beauty and experience of hand made. Some of the dearest gifts I’ve received have been ceramics not that I realised this until I started my ceramic journey. They can last a lifetime and are often, like a beautiful song, linked to something memorable - a wedding gift, a travel memento … . I’ve set myself the goal of firing weekly on a Friday, unloading the kiln on Saturday and uploading over the weekend for a Monday launch (weekly edit) via the website and newsletter. The menu items above direct you to product categories for this week’s edit and there’s also a Fresh from the Kiln section now appearing on the home page of our website showcasing all of the new products. The newsletter provides the subscriber with first access to new products. I also hope that it creates a wonderful community as it builds. New Wares |

Fresh from the Kiln The Weekly Edit 08 - Oct 24th, 2023 It’s been a bit of a slow return to the studio. In our short history of preparing for markets the week after is a bit of a go slow: unpacking, returning product to shelves, thinking about how the market went and what we can do better next time. Being pretty new to the market scene we don’t have a lot of expectation, it is more about connecting with people and getting ideas and really just playing at this point. We created a little...
Fresh from the Kiln The Weekly Edit 07 - Oct 2nd, 2023 Plates Planters Plates and planters in this week’s edit. A small kiln unload with 4 plates and 3 large planters taking up most of the kiln space. New glaze combination on the planter below. A bit of old gold over a chocolate brown base glaze with a carved and textured finish on this large 18cm planter. The planter combines well with green and bronzed foliage as shown below with an aged Euphorbia. This litte stack of 4 plates came out of...
Fresh from the Kiln The Weekly Edit 06 - Sept 24th, 2023 Lots of beautiful pieces out of the kiln this week. Very happy with some of the variations of our Neo matte glaze, a beautiful two tone caramel tan and chocolate on a couple of mugs. Perfect for hot chocolate, cappuccinos and lattes. A large bowl using our matte charcoal glaze with a glossy ocean cover glaze would make a lovely special occasion gift. I’m loving everything rustic at the moment, it feels as if the world is running at a...
